Membership

The close collaboration among public health, acute care and community care organizations is creating a more responsive system of maternal and child care in Southwestern Ontario. The phenomenon described as “crowd driven innovation” allows us to leverage diverse ideas and areas of expertise to move forward with our regional agenda. SERVICES & CORE BUSINESS DELIVERABLES

Each of the following core business services and deliverables are offered by the MNCYN to both the perinatal and pediatric programs.

  • Annual case reviews – physician and nursing lead (can be done in person or virtual)
  • Critical event reviews (unlimited) – physician and nursing facilitated (can be done in person or virtual)
  • Consultation with perinatal/paediatric professional practice consultants (unlimited) (email/phone)
  • Nursing site visit for education/workshop, can include low fidelity (1 perinatal & 1 Paediatric annually) (in person or virtual)
  • Access to on-line regional Paediatric and Perinatal orientation programs at greatly reduced cost.
  • Access to pediatric monthly review newsletter (e-communication and website)
  • Access to MNCYN website with many tools and documents to support practice (website)
  • Attendance to nurse leaders meeting spring and fall (in person and virtual)
  • Attendance to Regional Steering committee meeting (virtual) (see terms of reference)

GOVERNANCE

Governance of the Maternal, Newborn, Child and Youth Network in Southwestern Ontario is handled by the MNCYN Governance Council consisting of the MNCYN Executive Director, Medical Director – Neonatology, Medical Director – Obstetrics, Medical Director – Paediatrics, a Community Paediatrician, a Community Obstetrician, a Community Midwife, a Family Practice Physician – Obstetrics, a Level 3 Paed/Women Care Representative, a Level 2 Mat Child Representative, a Level 1 Obstetrics Representative and a Level 0 Emergency Department Representative.
